Dance MY Heart

I hear joy in every sound When your sweet love I found Softly and swiftly glides the time, Sweeter sings the brooklet by Brighter beams the azure sky. Arise my soul and stretch thy wings For thee the moon wears a big grin.   The crickets chirp sweetly in the scrub. The trees swaying graciously to their tune. Tap, tap the breeze on my gentle skin. Make music for my heart to hear, For my love and I have come to cling. No trouble without our love cannot bear. No change my heart shall fear.                                      Olufunke Kolapo.

Wind of Life

The dancing chandelier The rustling curtain The humming through the trees The howling wilderness Heralding the presence of the wind Sometimes it comes softly, slowly blowing towards us a gentleman bringing a sweet calm to the soul. Other times a low whistle the trees swinging to its rhythm. We are the leaves, swaying and swirling. Life is but a challenge we must face, we sing to calm our troubled souls just to ease the pain and sorrow it brings along. When it blows against us a fiery whirlwind a howling wilderness twirling us violently in its anger. Some hold their faith for support others their footings to find, firmly on the rock they thought. They are the prey, the not so lucky, dragged along in its fury not a sign to sight, nor a trace to tell of its passing, like a sailing ship across the waves. But the wind-blown who find pleasure in not knowing where they are going, but in the unfolding of their wings follow where it leads them. And sometimes a f...

That You Were My Home

A wide blanket of snow, Stretched out like curtain of silk. With no stitch line or edges What hands wrought this marvellous work? A wide sparse of land Gorgeously adorned with balls of fire, And dashing sparkle of jewels, Like a bride being led to her groom Always the same viewed from North, South, East or West. A virgin unravished by man A chaste land that belongeth to no man A sweeping canopy seemingly supported by the hills Thy gates shielded by their smoke A palace fit only for the greatest king The moon glorifying his presence The stars rending obeisance The crickets and the creeds lending their music at night Thy beauty teases us For you remained out of reach Like the promise of the second coming Oh that thou were my home! Oh that I had wings like a dove! I would hasten my escape from here below. Unfold my wings, Spread them and bid the wind to carry me. Then I would fly away, away to thee. And be at rest And the troubl...

CASCADE

Like the warmth of the morning sun, So do thoughts of you embrace me. Dreamlike I am awake, A glorious light of a new dawn. So is your presence in my life. Revealing the shadows in my life. Thus I would I can explain,           Like the smell of the rain. The feeling of forever. This pounding in my heart, A waterfall over steep rocks Flooding from your heart to mine Will forever be springtime Alas! The start of a new beginning.                       By- Olufunke Kolapo
